Mamas Retreat into the Desert!

by | May 8, 2023 | Art and Activism, Motherhood

The Motherhood Support Group, composed of young mamas from all over turtle island, has been gathering for the past few years to offer support, upliftment, and love to each other. Sharing stories, sharing tears, sharing laughter, all through virtual shared space.
This space is led by young mamas for young mamas, and for the first time in IAW history, We decided it was about time to be in shared physical space.

We gathered in the Magicalness of Tiwa Lands to meet for the first time in person! Most of us have never met in person, but if you didn’t know, you couldn’t tell that we all just met for the first time.

With the intention to enjoy and celebrate our motherhood, we also dove into a collaborative project with Risolana based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Together we created mini zines, art posters, and we printed and collated our very first Zine! Embodying the importance of reflection, creation, and rest with a splash of adult fun, we celebrated our motherhood with sisterhood and topped it off by leaving home with a freshly printed zine!

Stay tuned for the release of our I Am Motherhood: The Manifesto zine, which will be available on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023, on our website under Tools for Change.
